This update has been coming for quite some time, but I am pleased to present to you the draft 2012 revision to the Core TechQual+ survey. Follow the link below to view the draft revision.

2012 Draft Survey Revision: http://tinyurl.com/76dzjj2

This revision is based on qualitative feedback obtained through focus groups at participating institutions, statistical analysis of data obtained in the TechQual+ peer database, and feedback from participating institutions collected in the summer of 2011.

Your feedback on this draft revision is very important. To provide me with your feedback please follow this link below.

Feedback on 2012 Draft Survey Revision: http://tinyurl.com/6mgfmv4

The following is the timeline for adoption of this draft revision to the TechQual+ core survey.

January 23 - February 6, 2012 Feedback on draft revision by participating institutions
February 10, 2012 Conference call to discuss feedback and release final 2012 TechQual+ survey
February 10 - 11, 2012 TechQual+ Web site updated
February 12, 2012 New TechQual+ Survey ready for use by participating institutions

More information on the scheduled conference call for February 10, 2012 will be released later as a follow-up to this post.

Additionally, we expect some significant new functions to also be added to the Web site over the February 10 - 11, 2012 weekend. For the past 2 years, many participating institutions have requested the ability to add new custom question types to a TechQual+ survey. While we cannot accomodiate this type of addition to the core survey at this time, we will be releasing new functionality that will allow you to redirect your respondents, upon completion of the TechQual+ survey, to a survey on your own site that you have created to contain your followup survey items. This will allow you to use a tool such as SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics to extend a TechQual+ survey to include your own custom survey.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Timothy M. Chester
Higher Education TechQual+ Project Principal Investigator

Thanks Tim. Will previously-used custom questions be available as part of the revised TechQual+ survey? Or, do they need to be treated as a local custom survey?

Hi Jonathan, all of the depreciated questions will be copied to each institutions custom survey item library, that way you can choose to add them to your survey as a custom item if you are interested in continuing to use those items. Best, Tim

We have been planning a TechQual survey to being in mid-February and after reviewing the changes would like to proceed with the new questions. Will we be able to release the survey as early as February 13? Will we be able to prepare our survey with the new questions prior to that date?

Thanks,

jf

John, you certainly will be able to release the survey on February 13, but you would not be able to create the survey using the new questions until the 12th. Tim
